A Complete Ground Floor Transformation
This project in Twyford, near Winchester, shows just how much a home can be transformed without adding an extension.
Working closely with our clients, Caroline and Matt, we redesigned the existing ground floor to create a more open, connected layout that worked better for everyday family life and entertaining.
The project included the kitchen, living room, dining area, hallway and utility room, with two internal walls removed and a new wall introduced to completely rethink how the spaces connected.

The Kitchen
At the heart of the new layout is a bespoke taupe-grey shaker kitchen, paired with Carrara worktops for a timeless finish.
A built-in breakfast cupboard provides useful additional storage while keeping smaller appliances neatly tucked away. Integrated appliances, a hot-water tap and a discreet ceiling-mounted extractor help maintain the clean, uncluttered look of the kitchen.
The new layout also creates a much stronger connection between the kitchen, dining and living areas, making the ground floor feel considerably more spacious without increasing its footprint.
Dining & Entertaining
The adjoining dining area was designed as part of the overall scheme rather than treated as a separate room.
A bespoke drinks bar with an antique mirrored splashback creates a focal point within the space and provides dedicated storage and serving space when entertaining.
From Downstairs WC to Utility Room
The existing downstairs WC was reconfigured to create a practical utility room with generous fitted storage.
Moving these everyday functions away from the main kitchen allowed us to make better use of the available space while keeping laundry and household essentials neatly out of sight.
Bespoke Hallway Storage
The transformation continues into the entrance hall, where bespoke cabinetry provides integrated coat storage alongside a handcrafted bench seat.
Designed to make an often-overlooked part of the home more useful, the fitted furniture provides practical everyday storage while tying in with the style of the rooms beyond.
Bringing the Ground Floor Together
Antico flooring runs throughout the ground floor, helping connect the kitchen, living and dining areas with the hallway and creating a consistent flow from one space to the next.
The finishes and decorative scheme were selected as part of the wider design, resulting in a ground floor that feels cohesive rather than a collection of individually renovated rooms.
